At 25, this composer, singer, producer, pianist and dancer is like a secondary color made by the fusion of the musical rainbow of the 1980s and ’90s—whose primary colors were Cher, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Pink and Bronski Beat.

Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, better known as Lady Gaga, was born in Manhattan on March 28, 1986. She grew up admiring pop’s greatest artists at a time music was taking a creative quantum leap that created long-lasting icons. Queen and Michael Jackson grabbed her attention, molding her along with her most indelible influence: Madonna.

Her debut came in 2008 with The Fame, and critics loved her. This was 2009’s second most successful album, selling 12 million copies. The first two singles—“Just Dance” and “Poker Face”—reached No. 1 on the 2009 charts and helped Lady Gaga’s “The Fame Ball Tour” become an overwhelming success.

Her second album, The Fame Monster, was one of the 10 best-selling albums in the major countries where it was introduced. Lady Gaga also became the artist with the most digital sales, with 8.4 million downloads. A few days after the album’s launch, as is usual for her, she began a worldwide tour called “The Monster Ball Tour.”

In May 2010, Time magazine ranked her No. 19 in the list of the World’s Most Influential People, while Forbes named her No. 4 in its list of The World’s Most Successful and Influential Celebrities, and No. 2 in The World’s Most Powerful Celebrities. Her most recent work, Born This Way, came on strong both in sales and rumors. To top it off, Elton John chose her as his son’s godmother. There’s no doubt that, if Lady Gaga accepts, the child will have a pretty unique, but very powerful family.
